what you know < who you know

I don't really know why, but i want to talk about how in life it is always who you know over what you know. At least in most respects. If the talent level is equal in applicants, but one applicant knows the boss from a friend of a friend, and the other applicant has never met the boss the applicant that knows the boss will get the job. Another example happened to me. My dancer teacher was teaching at a convention and out in a good word for me with the owner. I also new the owner from a competition we did. I ended up getting to go teach in LA with my teacher for a weekend. They paid for my flight, hotel, and food. Perfect example. A dance mom at my studio is best friends with an admissions director for the dance program at NYU, so she put in a good work and they are looking at giving me a scholarship and i have a very god chance at getting in.
